The Red Devils are willing to offer Juan Mata to Inter Milan but the Serie A giants are more interested in Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
The long pursuit for Inter Milan midfielder, Joao Mario is ongoing as far as Manchester United are concerned. United boss Jose Mourinho has continuously expressed his desires to strengthen his side but failed in the pursuit last summer.
However, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel for the Old Trafford based club as there could be a way to pursuade Inter Milan to sell their player. However, it comes at one cost. Luciano Spalletti’s side want Armenian playmaker Henrikh Mkhitaryan in return for the 24-year-old.
A report from Italian paper Corriere dello Sport (h/t Daily Mail) mentions that the Red Devils are using the former Chelsea star as a leverage in their moves to acquire Mario.
But, they also go on to claim that Inter are not interested in signing the 2012 Champions League winner, but could be persuaded if they are given an option to sign Mkhitaryan instead.
Nevertheless, United also face competitions from PSG to sign the Portuguese midfielder. The French club are also willing to offer Javier Pastore in return, a move that could attract Milan.
Things are looking timid for Joao with the Serie A outfit, with just four starts this season. New head coach Spalletti has preferred players like Borja Valero, Roberto Gagliardini and Matias Vecino over him while the resurgence continues at the Italian club.
